THE PARAGRAPH

A paragraph is sentences grouped together developed a central idea.


The paragraph has three parts:

· Topic Sentence.
· Supporting Sentences.
· Concluding Sentences.


TOPIC SENTENCE
It comes at the beginning of the paragraph, it introduces an overall idea that you discuss later in the paragraph.


BODY SENTENCE
It explains the idea expressed in the topic sentence.


CONCLUDING SENTENCE
The concluding sentence is at the end of the paragraph and it summarizes the information that has been presented.

EXAMPLES

• In the first place, I would like tell us about of climate change.....
• The contamination and consumerism are the principal causes, this  phenomenon also of affects  the enviroment, affects the humanity and the economy...
• Finally I propose  the union between people and nations  for our future..

ELEMENTS OF A SHORT STORY

SHORT STORY ELEMENTS	WHAT IS IT ?	EXAMPLE
SETTING	Is the time and location in a story, is like a places,time, social and weather conditions, etc	The  Village
PLOT	It is the sequence of events in a story or play.	This contains: Introduction, rising action,climax, falling action and denouement
CONFLICT	Problem faced by the characters.	The vusi´s hope and his optimist.
CHARACTER	There are two meanings for the word character:  1)  The person in a work of fiction.  2)  The characteristics of a person. Characters are the people, animals or creatures in the story.	Vusi Makusi The priest´s niece The chief The monkey The politician The bus driver The man in charge
THEME	Is the meaning or main idea that the autor is trying to convey.	In this  story, the autor focus in the reflexion, persistence and be optimust
POINT OF VIEW	Is defined as the angle from which the story is told.	Omniscient Limited - The author tells the story in third person.  We know only what the character knows and what the author allows him/her to tell us. We can see the thoughts and feelings of characters if the author chooses to reveal them to us.
